Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge
Today Sammie and I walked through the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge, a protected wetland area about half a mile from my house. You can look down onto the refuge from 13th street (I've posted pictures of this before), but this was my first time actually walking through the area. We heard lots of frog and heron calls, which the area is known for.

Some lower trees and bushes have started budding and blooming already. I've been told that spring starts at the end of February here...that would be nice.

Some of the waterlogged areas.

Pussywillows! I don't think I've seen them growing wild since moving away from the home I grew up in.

Looking out onto the basin.
